Does a retainer yellow your teeth?

Question

i had braces in the middle of 5th grade and i got them off the summer before my 7th grade year started. at first my teeth were perfect. straight and white. but as 8th grade arrived i noticed my teeth started yellowing. I am now going into my freshmen year.

my dentist said that braces do cause some teeth to yellow but i don't wear them anymore. so my question is can a retainer cause teeth to yellow.

oh my retainer is that wire thingy on top and the clear one on the bottom.

i have two clear retainers and i dont think that the metal one would do anything but i think that my clear ones yellowed my teeth a little cause if you have any food or any germs on your teeth during the day or exspecially when you go to bed it is stuck in your retainers all night just sitting there on your teeth thus possible slightly yellowing your teeth

It doesnt. just keep brushing and it should be nice :) P.S. Make sure u brush ur retainer cuz mine stunk really bad :( lol
