Does a router or gateway prefer a certain type of phone jack cable?

My router has been acting a bit... weird. What it does is it restarts every 5-10 minutes for no good reason. I tried everything from shutting it off and on, letting it cool for a bit, resetting it to factory settings.. everything. Then i tried just using a different phone cable.. and now it works fine.

Maybe you just have a bad quality one that's shorting it out.
