I am trying to make a pvr and I have a high definition tv, so when I plug this cable (look at link below) will the s-videos cables cababilitys (480p) increase when using a composite cable. Possibly up to 1080p?

  1. Component, not composite can go to 1080

svideo and composite and basically the same quality.  It's just that svideo separates the video, but since you have an HD tv, it will probably turn it into progressive anyway.

Unless your source is HD, there's no reason to not go with svideo

  2. First of all S-video can't carry 480p, only 480i!

Second, composite is WORSE than S-video, so don't go from s-video to composite.

HD requires either component or HDMI/DVI
