I want to buy a slate pool table for my house. I live in a townhouse and its two levels. I want to put it on the second level. i was talking to a friend and he said that a pool table will a) wreck the floor (its carpeted) and b) be too heavy for the floor. I'm wondering if anyone has bought a pool table for their house and if there is any truth to what my friend told me. Or if anyone has any advice on pooltables in houses.

  1. The table is not too heavy for the floor. Lots of people have pool tables on the second floor of their houses without problems.

The table very well could leave indentions in the carpet. But like the last person said, if you put pads in, you could reduce or eliminate this affect.

  2. The floor wont be damaged. The worst you will get is permanent depressions in the carpet. You can also buy "pads" to spread out the weight more evenly. That should help.

  3. you should not have a problem unless your floorboards are in a bad condition. pool tables are heavy but not as heavy as snooker tables which weigh over a ton.
