Would a difference of .3-4 of a grain of powder between cases affect accuracy? I plan on reloading 110gr ballistic tips in a .270

  1. Yes. While a tenth of a grain probably won't make a lot of difference, a half grain or more certainly will. That's enough difference to show up in barrel harmonics.

  2. It will affect your point-of-impact, not your accuracy.

  3. Consistency is the name of the game in reloading.

I agree with the first two posters. It will change the point of impact of the round. Tune your rifle to that cartridge...keep your reloads the same...shot will fall on same spot.

A few grains difference bewteen cartridges is why some "factory" cartridges are all over the place in thier groupings on target.

  4. Yes. .3-4 grain and definitely affect the accuracy.

When I'm working up an accuracy load. Once I'm close, I have 3 round test lots .3 grain apart. Yes, that little tiny amount can make a difference. You zero in on the right frequency the barrel likes and turn a 3/4" group into about 1/2"

  5. It will definitely make a difference, especially as you shoot to further distances.  One grain can make a difference, but any reloader knows he/she plays with a grain to see when they will get the best shot group.  3 to 4 grains of powder will effect accuracy for sure.

  6. Tenths of grains can make a difference in point of impact; bullet weght, shape and barrel twist rates all play a huge part in the velocity and accuracy of given bullets.
