I just pierced my smiley (yes, on my own) which it doesn't even hurt, nor did it bleed at all. What is the upkeep for the first few weeks for a smiley?

  1. Oral piercings have the lowest risk of infection because of the saliva in your mouth (it's purpose is to kill bacteria/germs) and because they have the shortest healing time.

The thing you should be worried about the most with a smiley is rejection and getting it ripped out.  Smilies are known to have these issues a lot.

Just rinse with an alcohol-free mouthwash after eating- but no more than about 5 times a day.  Any more can lead to overcleaning.  If you need to rinse anymore than 5, just use plain warm water after the 5 mouthwash rinses.

  2. Rinse with alcohol-free mouthwash for 30 seconds after every time you eat or drink anything but water (including smoking and kissing) and clean it morning and night with non-ionized sea salt and water. The mixture to use is 1 TSP sea salt with one cup of water. Mix and dip a cotton swab in there and clean both parts with the swab. Make sure to dump out the sea salt  mixture after a week because it gets germs. Anymore questions, let me know!
