Question:

Does a sweet spot marker work?`?

While at the local golf shop today, I saw a small device that spins the golf ball very fast, and after 20 seconds, you mark the ball, and it is supposed to be the sweet spot of the ball. It claims that balls will go straighter from woods and irons, and putts will roll more true. Not a bad pricew at $20 if it does indeed do all of that. My question is for anyone who has ever used on. Does the thing really work or should I save my $20? Please advise mor ethan just a yes or no answer if possible. If it worked, how well did it work for you? If not, please advise that also. Thanks in advance for any info.

  1. I believe that it will find the center, but I don't think it is worth it.  Unless you  hit the ball perfect all the time, and you know that some putts were missed or drives were off line simply because of the ball it won't help you.  Since you can't place the ball on approach shots, it won't do you any good except on the tee or the putting green.

  2. If YOU think it will help, use it.  Golf is played in the head. Anything that will give you confidence is a GOOD thing. From a technical standpoint, I would think that as humans, we are inherently flawed. With that being said you would think that even with the ball being in "perfect" balance, we, as humans, will most of the time inject other flaws into the putting stroke. I would say that all of our best bets are to learn to read greens, learn to trust our reads, and take a yip-free stroke. Nothing to it. I wish!!!

  3. you don't need it you have a sweet spot marker on your golf clubs

  4. I have one of the little Quizmo's they do work

the marks on the balls are not the same as the ones that are put on by the spinner the putts do roll truer on long lag putts and seem to help a bit off the tee if you re spin the ball it does center itself back to the same spot that you marked the first time

If you got a twenty and you think it will hepl go for it they do find the true center of gravity of the ball Why fight physics right ?Cant be any worse than say a Q-ray or magnetic bracelets right ???? lol

  5. Its where the golf balls center of gravity is.  Which means if it rolls along that line, weight inside the ball wont cause the ball to drift left or right.  I know some balls come with a mark on them showing the COG already.  Personally, it doesnt make much difference, spend the $20 on something else.

  6. As someone has already said, most balls are marked on their COG line already, not by the logo of the manufacturer, but usually with a secondary marking, such as the ball model or a putting target line.  Save the $20 and spend $2 on a plastic piece that fits halfway around the ball.  Set the line over the secondary marking and mark the ball with the sharpie.  You get the same effect for 1/10 of the price.
