  1. Every one off mine is situated on the right

hand side and every one i have ever seen

is on the right, same with the bleed s***w.

  2. Yea, its needs to go on the intake side otherwise how would it control the temp.

    Im only guessing mind.

  3. In the past they have always been installed on the delivery pipe.  But the latest units say you can put them either end.  I have just put one on the out end and I am not satisfied that it works as well there.  I am going to change it round next time I have to drain down

  4. nowadays you can fit them to either side, flow or return,

i normally fit them to the flow which is the one that gets hot first. you can fit them vertically or horizontally depending on space or "whichever way you think looks nice" it does,nt affect performance.

  5. The fitting instructions will tell you as some are suited to the flow, some to the return and some are either!

  6. Most modern TRV's can be fitted on either end (flow or return) and can be mounted either horizontal or vertical. I still fit them on the flow (pipe that gets hot first) unless the flow to the rad is in a tight corner. Most valves will have an arrow on the body of the valve indicating direction of flow into the valve. Hope this helps

  7. im a builder and have allways fitted them on the right ..at least that is what my plumber does !

  8. If you have any doubt about it then fit them to the incoming (flow) pipe. This is the one that gets hot first. Then you can't go wrong.

The reason is so that it shuts off the water before it has a chance to warm the radiator.

Maks sure that you have the water inlet pipe connected to the underside of the washer. If the incoming water is coming in to the top of the washer it will never lift and the valve will be permanently off. Most have an arrow on the pipe coupling block.
