In the summer there are a lot of leaves, but the branches are softer. In the winter there are no leaves, but the twigs are more brittle and snappy.

  2. the ground in the summer is also hard and dry whereas in winter, puddles or leaves might be covering it to give the tree a soft landing....but then again there is more wind in the winter so more pressure wud be applied to the trees' falling velocity...hmm...this question makes u think in circles... but i'l go wit summer...wat makes the cracking sound is the impact of somethin on hard surface..so even if the tree falls with more force in the winter it wud not make as much sound.

  3. Winter, for a couple reasons. Cooler air allows sound to travel better. Plus no leaves mean less for the sound to be absorbed.

  4. Just becaus we don't hear it, doesn't mean it doesn't make a noise if this question is corrospondant w/ "If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound".

If you're talking louder? I dunno i'de say winter.  The branches and what not would make a louder snap and the base of the tree itselfs would kind of sound something like a gun shot.

  5. Haha I thought this was one of those "If a tree falls and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?" questions.

Anyways, I think it would make more sound in the winter with the snappy and the brittleness.

  6. yes, even if no one is around to hear it, it still makes noised

  7. so...does it make a difference? interesting question... u can send that to brainiac (its a british tv fun science show):]
