Does a tumble dryer cost £150 per annum to run once a week?

I got rid of mine and hang my stuff now. An energy saver dryer costs £500 so not much saving there I guess.

  1. it depends on the brand and energy rating.

    it can be worth it though if you want softer, quicker dried clothes.

    Airers are good though as they act as an air freshner too.

    we only use our drier if it has rained all weekend and we have lots of washing to dry.


  2. i dont know where you got your figure of £150 from

    its costs approx 23p per hour according to most statistics, thats a c rated one, so to be honest buying an A or B rated one isnt worth the effort or initial expense as i doubt you would recoup the higher purchase price against the slightly lower running cost
