  1. Spring water, the distilled water is just tap water with chlorine taken out and still has many chemicals that can harm a turtle, tap water (from your sink) has chlorine and chemicals that can also harm a turtle, spring water is best because it most likely comes from springs, or has all chlorine and chemicals taken out.

  2. Any will do. Let tap water sit for a day to get rid of any chlorine if you have municipal water.Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) will clear out chlorine faster.

  3. I have a well and my turtle swims in the water from my sink.

  4. Use tap water. The chlorine will leach out in a couple of days, but you can treat it with amquel and novaqua, if you wish.

It is more important that you have proper heating and filtration.

  5. Just water from the sink will do fine. BUT you must put some amquel in the tank so the feeders that you feed him don't die.

**The bigger the environment the bigger the turtle.

Did you know that they need to bask under a reptile light UVA for 8 to 10 hrs a day for the vitamin D that they need to grow. So that means getting a turtle dock also.

Leave the heater on 75 to 78 degrees always.

Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they p**p allot.

You need a good filter system! Gravel larger than they can swallow.

You need to feed them feeder guppies, goldfish or minnows for protein and calcium daily drop 20 or so in the tanks and watch them disappear! This way when they swim for their dinner they get exercise also!

They need leafy greens( Romaine, Butter lettuce. Iceberg and cabbage are bad for them, any leafy greens will do) for vitamin A that they need at least 3 to 4 times a week.
