Does a video compressor affect the quality of my video?

also, can you recommend some good video compressors? is divx a good one?

  1. yes it will, the more you compess the more you video goes to ****.  I use dvix for anythign online.  Dvix compresses really far and doesn't loose to much quality.  Keep in mind if the person playing the file does not have the decompresor codec it will not play.  Mpeg 2 or 4 is a good format for making dvds.  if you dont want to loose quality uncompressed dv or avi is best, btu the files will be huge.  Mpeg is better for video editing and dvix is good for internet transfer
