  1. White is the best colour for a wall, it will give you the best contrast between blacks and white colours. Other colours such as cream or light shades will work OK too, but less ideal. Dark colours will not work!

  2. Visit goosystems.com and match your projector to their special paint selection.  Then look at the color paint chart to see the actual color of white or gray tone and try to match the paint chip to a custom color match at your nearby paint store.

    Good luck!

  3. Hear is http://www.theaterthings.com/ a website were you can buy paint for projector use. Its spendy but cheaper than a screen. If you paint your wall white your pictire will suck. Goto a real HT shop and ask them. DO you want a good picture or c**p.

  4. a light shade of grey is better than white as it helps with the darker tones using black surrounds will only act to limit the size of picture you use so dont bother.

other than white or grey will distort the color if the wall is yellow and the color projected is blue the picture would be green

  5. Projectors don't create "real white color" they use the color of the screen for that (the best example is your printer: there is no white color ink on printers so they use the color of the paper as the base for white; the same goes for projectors. If you change the color of the screen or wall then all the colors will be shifted and the contrast will be very bad.

You can give a try anyway, but try only very light neutral colors like  neutral gray or even some beige; any other color will make things look funny (like light skin will be colored, the same for theeth) remeber that the colors made by the projector are transparent not opaque so, they'll show any color the wall or screen is made.

  6. For best results and a clear vivid image you do not want to use a painted wall as your background. Most off white walls are too noisy with regard to the photopic reponse.i.e diffused lambertian response, specular reflection, and haze come to mind. Couple that with a reflective index of .55 vs. .99 (in most cases) you will not be happy with the color or overall contrast for your projector. That reflective index effects the overall contrast of your image exponentially.

Case in point use a good projector screen, even a cheap model will give you a HUGE improvement in overall quality.
