  1. No, despite common misconceptions to the contrary, it does not.


  2. it does a little bit but not really noticeable they proved it on mythbusters

  3. the only way to know for sure is to  measure efficiency aerodynamics of the vehicle with and without the cover. the cover reduces wind resistance therefore improving gas mileage. i imagine your gas mileage improvement will be minimal.

  4. trucks are designed to be driven without any type of cover and are aerodynamically designed to get the best mileage without a cover on it. Same holds true with putting the tailgate down. It doesn't really increase mileage.

  5. Not really.  It does make the truck more aerodynamic so in theory you would pick up a little bit in the fuel milage department, but the added weight of a taneau cover would negate any aerodynamic effects.
