to? I want a definite answer on this, i have not been able to find it. My girlfriend swears her doctor has told her that adding crystal light to water changes it's molecules and while it hydrates you, it no longer is regular water and doesn't help your body clean itself of waste...

  1. well, the water still clenses you, water is water, H20.... that doesn't change, so it still clenses your system.  however, adding crystal light or other flavor "mixes" which are all chemicals and toxins, likely add more to your system than the water removes.

  2. Crystal light contains PHENYLALANINE  which is an artificial sweetener and approved by the FDA (Federal Food and Drug Agency) for the use in humans. So if this is bad for you, you would not be able to buy it in the first place.

If your girlfriend is that worried about it have her go the the website and ask the company more about it. It is better to ask a chemist than a regular doctor about such matters.

  3. Water is water, hydrogen and oxygen. The only way to change it at a molecular level is to cause a chemical reaction, like adding a pure alkali metal (Potassium, Sodium), and I can assure you that you'd know something was going on.

Unless you're creating it chemically, water is full of stuff already and in all likelihood none of it is causing you any problems.

    Ingredients in Crystal Light:

    - Citric Acid: It's a flavor, created chemically. Naturally found in citrus fruit.

    - Calcium citrate: Flavor, salt and water softener. Essentially a form of citric acid.

    - Maltodextrin: Extremely common additive, a starch that emulsifies (thickens) foods. Might add some sweetness.

    - Vitamin C

    - Aspertame: Sugar substitute, and one that I don't particularly like.

    - MgO: Common food additive, essentially an antacid.

    - And tiny amounts of other c**p

It's all flavors and thickeners, very little here that you're not getting from tons of other sources. If you're worried about it, buy some standard Orange Juice and add that instead. It's far better for you (her) anyway.
