  1. Teachers are paid by salary...in other words, they make the same amount of money every month no matter what holidays may fall during the month.  For example, they make the same amount of money in December (even though there is typically a two week break) as they make in say February when there are no holidays.  The same goes for the summer...their salary is divided into twelve months even though they are off for the summer.


  2. Not usually.  All education workers get paid only for the days they work, teachers and support personnel alike.  "All" of those vacation days are in place because of the children's families' needs, not because teachers want those days off.
