Question:

Does air conditioning really matter in the winter in London?

I am researching low-budget places to stay in the beginning of October. And, I keep seeing places make a big deal that they have air conditioning. When it is 50 degrees, does Air conditioning really matter?

Any advice on this would really help!

  1. I live in England, and I have never really felt the need for air conditioning, even in summer. Heating, yes, air con, no.

In October, you are much more likely to be putting on a jumper and coat before you go out than anything else.

  2. You may like a cool breeze but I would say know if you need to cool down then you should simply open the window. The only reason I can think of is if you don't want to hear the hustle and bustle of London (which I love even though it can be loud in Kensington, have to close them when mum pops round)

The only practicle thing is for when it is raining but is hot in your flat so you dont want things to get wet but want to cool down and then it is possible.

    Hope this is helpfull

  3. it's very unlikely you'd need air conditioning in October ... the reason places make a big deal of air conditioning here is that it's not standard, very few people have it in their own homes and a lot of work places don't have it either, so the hotels go on about it partly to show off and partly because some tourists (e.g. americans) wouldn't dream of going to a place that doesn't have it
