Question:

Does airport security search your wallet?

I'm headed to Florida tomorrow morning, and I'm curious about something.

When going through security, if i leave my wallet in my pocket and don't set off the metal detector, will they for any reason pull my wallet out of my pocket, and go through the entire thing?

Also, what happens if I don't allow them to seach it? Will they do it anyways?

  1. Just put your wallet through the security check, it will make it much more simple.  If you really don't want to do this, just make sure there are no metal objects, of any sort, in your wallet.  If it doesn't set off the detector, they won't search you.

  2. Normally, you will be asked to put your wallet and keys on a tray and they go through the Xray scan. This is a standard security procedure.

  3. Don't expect friendly requests when it's about airport security. It is the smartest thing to just listen, and make sure that you are able to catch your plane. When going through the detectors, take everything out of your pockets and put it in a basket. It will then go through the X-ray scan. What is so secret that they can't see it? If it's about a few condoms, don't worry ;) If you want to bring weed or anything else illegal, forget about it and just leave it at home.

See the link below for more information about travelling by plane.

    Have a nice flight :)

  4. They can if they want. Obviously they will not look through your documents. That said, I never had mine searched. To avoid that, I usually place it in my carry on and retrieve it after it has been screened. Is that an option?
