Okay, so at a party last night, a friend approached me and I asked her if she planned on drinking. She told me that she wouldn't because she's training for soccer season and her coach told them that drinking takes back two weeks of training.

It was the first I had ever heard of this, so I was wondering if this is true.

When searching for a similar question, I saw that someone had asked the same question but for binge drinking. I'm just wondering if one or two drinks effect you the same way.

Please help, I want to go out tonight but I wont drink if its going to effect my training either.

  1. actually alcohol does affect your muscles in a worst way.   When alocohol meets up with your muscles, it does affect them negatively, causing inflammation or deterioration, and since ur body is busy spending its energy towrards the alochol, it slows down recorvery of muscle cells.  Since most of ur energy gets zapped and u dont get a good nights rest, u do slow down muscle recovery and can sometimes even stop it to the point that it won't grow back bigger.

however a 1-3 drinks is not realy taxing ur body too much and its not too big of a deal.  It will still slow down recovery SLIGHTLY and the next day u MIGHT not have as much endurance possibly but its not gonna affect anything enough that you'll see any major difference.

  2. Its a ton of empty calories that actually robs your body of hydration and nutrients. In addition, most people feel weak and lousy for a couple of days after a night of excess. I don't think its sets you back two weeks but I don't drink because the price is not worth it. I can have a great time without it.
