  1. Yes! It will, you don't have to buy a 1080p Tv to make it work as long you have  a HDTV and a PS3 or BlueRay Player  which are the only things it can give you 1080p Resolution no cable companys or whatever will give you that cause they only work with 1080i

  2. Few HDTV's support the full 1080P resolution most are 1080i. or even 720P.

Only the TOP of the line LCD-TV's support 1080P.

YOU DO NOT NEED 1080P for the ps3 to work.It will work with a lower resolution TV

Look in the owners  manual  or online for the resolution of the TV set.   Unless you really want to pay the extra price, a 720P LCD TV's picture should look almost as good.

  3. Not all do, no, especially not with older models.  Even some newer ones don't -- my new 720p 19" TV has an HDMI input, and a friend's 720p 23" TV has *two* HDMI inputs.  They're nice to have even at lower resolutions since there's one cable to run vs. a set of 5 for a component video + standard audio connection, so they're often put into just about any HDTV.

If you want to make sure you are getting a TV that can display 1080p, make sure it actually says that on the box/tag.

  4. To fully take advantage of your PS3, you should purchase a television with 1080p.  However, the only way that you can view full HD (1080p) is with a BluRay DVD or old HD DVD player.  Some of these also upconvert older DVD content to 1080p.  HDTV television is broadcast in 1080i or 720p and your TV will display it in that format since it will not upconvert.  Bottom line is if you want 1080p, make sure that you look for key words like "Full HD", which is how some manufacturers now distingiush between 720p/1080i (HD), and 1080p (Full HD).

  5. No. Not all LCD HDTVs support 1080p. The TV itself needs to support the resolution in order for it to work. An HDMI cable is just a cable that can carry high definition video and audio. It will not alter the HDTV in any way or coerce it into displaying a resolution higher than it can support. It doesnt matter what fuel you put in your car, it wont be able to fly. (lol horrible analogy)

Find the model you like, go online and look for the product brochure. It will tell you what resolutions it can support. Then grab an HDMI cable and enjoy HD.

Here is a tutorial i enjoyed on HDMI.
