  1. Yes. Back child support will follow the non custodial parent into the grave and beyond. It can even be taken from the dead parent's estate.

In theory you could have 30-40 year old "children" still getting IRS offsets from their deadbeat parents ;-))

  2. yes, the custodial parent paid 100% of the support while the deadbeat parent was not paying.  It is reimbursing her/him.

  3. Yes it does. Reason being, the custodial parent had to pay the bills, supply the child with all their needs, medical and educational along with buying clothes and food, etc. etc. etc.... While the dead beat parent was running from their responsibility.

It takes two people to make a baby but a lot of people out there think they can walk away from the responsibility and leave it with the other parent or with a grandparent.

So until ALL of the back child support is paid up, it does not matter how old the child is now, the money goes to the person who footed the bill to raise the child while the slacker was out having fun.

  4. Child Support is obtained by a court order. It never expires. If the payer "disappears", when they retire the money can still be garnished from their SSI checks.

  5. i do believe so. reason is because it is past due which means that the money the parent did not receive while the child was a minor came out of the parents pocket so therefore it has to be reimbursed to the parent.
