  1. Good Q!

    I was wondering just that.

I saw this segment on BBC which was appalling.

Pple in the cities really don't have that much information as to how bad the food crisis is in the regions.

Well, do all the donations go to hunger relief u ask? I hope so - for all our sakes!!!!

  2. No, it doesn't.

Some of it goes to transport the food that's given (trucks and gas; bikes, camels), some to keep the website or office open so people know where to send the money. Landlords and server companies need to be paid, too. Bank accounts can cost something to have--and someone has to pay the accountant to certify that no one's skimming the money.

It's easy to say, "All the money should go to the starving," but you can't afford to travel to Ethiopia to take the money and there has to be some arrangement to do it.

  3. Most of them are. I've never heard of swindlers so far.

    One Love !!!

  4. Good for you, it's so good to hear of unselfish people like you who want to help others.  There have to be some admin costs but the "good" charities know how to keep these to a minimum.  Look up the websites of your favourite charities, there is usually a way of obtaining information on their financial status.  Most of the big charities, have contacts in large manufacturing companies (temporary housing and food provision), and can often get low cost transportation of emergency supplies - sometimes through the Western Military.  Be choosey how you make your donations, use gift aid (allowing the charities to reclaim any Income Tax you've paid).  Well done.
