  1. The alt text tag for image will help with SEO.

    It’s a good keyword handler; just don’t repeat the same keyword over and over again.

    Alt=”littlefish”

    Alt=”little fish”

    Alt=”pretty little fish”

    Yes you can use spaces in the alt test discription

  2. Yes, include a keyword in your alt tags but make sure that the keyword phrase completely describes the picture or it is spam.

  3. Your best bet is to describe what is in the picture. You will not trick the search engines for too long.

  4. give some unique name to the alt, there are so many fishse and small fishes in the images, so using unique names, your image can be optimized too.

  5. Alts helps in your search engine optimization because search engines and blind people are able to know what the picture is about. The better your images are optimized the higher your chances on ranking very high on the search engines.

    Its a good habit to include the ALT on all your pictures. As an experienced web designer and SEO, I recommend it highly.

  6. Alt are not for SEO. they serve a few purposes; the most important 2 are:

    1. People  / Browsers that can not see images. Blind people and Lynx web browser are good example

    2. Describe the image for search engine bots. This will allow an image to be displayed on the Google images search results.

    Please do not use this to SEO spam

  7. chibi your gonna have to clue me in on this one remember im old school we didnt have pcs when i was growin up

  8. Use of ATL text is appropriate in SEO as long as it does not constitute spamdexing or duplicate entries , i.e., .jpg alt="littlefish" repeated over and over again for several .jpgs.

    Good luck!

  9. I agree with Lukene.

    But technically speaking ALT tags do have a positive impact on your SEO.

    Does that mean you will jump from #26 to #5?  Not neccessarily.

    If you do a search in Google  Image Search, or Yahoo Image Search, or MSN Image Search, the way the images are shown are based on the following factors:

    1.  Was  the  keyword phrase being searched for in the  ALT tag of the image?

    2.  Was the keyword phrase  being searched for in the filename of the  image?  eg.  keyword-phrase.jpg

    3.  The content around the image did it contain the keyword phrase.
