  1. Yes it can any form of fighting can be considered a form of it technically.

at the other user "and on the fact that Katana wishes that he could be as cool as Judomofo."  Yeah right, you really know them both & have no clue. Ive been here three years with them and both are great answerers have you?

  2. Yes I would say that wrestling can definetly be considered a martial art.

Jimbo jones and Wildrice- i do not know what I have done to offend the two of you, or if you are just attracted to me. If that's the case I am sorry to tell you that I am already married, and I don't go that way anyhow.

As for Judomofo I respect him greatly, but have no desire to be him as I like who I am and the life I have just fine. I actually owe him a lot and many people don't know I actually helped him develope his Chi Enhancement System. We just thought his name sounded cooler.

  3. Yes.  Absolutely.  Martial arts are defined as practice and training for combat, whether grappling, striking, or weapon techniques.

Controlling your opponent through wrestling is definitely a martial art, just as much as boxing, fencing, or jiu jitsu.

*nerdy footnote*  the term "martial" actually comes from the Roman god of war Mars.  Greco-Roman wrestling clearly fits the bill.

  4. actually yes. Some of the best UFC fighters are world class wrestlers (Randy Couture, Matt Huges, Tito Ortiz to name a few.)

You have have to learn how to incorporate it into a real fight.

  5. yeah its a form of martial arts. more widely considered a sport but it still teaches you techniques youd use in a fight.

  6. Not only is it a martial art. It is one of the oldest and most practised sports in the entire world. Every human being to some capacity has some weird natural ability to wrestle. Even if it is horrible. When kids tussle, they are wrestling, even though they don't know what they are even doing.

A great martial art, and one of the best sports there is with an awesome history and techniques refined and made across the entire world.

  7. Wrestling is not a Martial Art, it is a sport.

"The term "martial art" is used in Western idiom to describe a wide variety of combative systems and sports. Under closer examination, however, we find that not all of these activities are truly martial (military) in nature, nor are they arts. While some have indeed developed as a system of combat used by warriors, many others evolved in religious and civil settings as a methods for physical and spiritual development, personal self defense and sports.

Examples of combative systems actually developed by warriors include those devised by the hwarang, a warrior society in the 6th century Korean kingdom of Silla, and, of course, the martial systems developed by the Samurai of Feudal Japan. Both systems focused on the use of weapons and encompassed on a wide range of other military skills such as horsemanship, swimming, fortification, and strategy as well as unarmed combat."

  8. wrestling is one of the oldest forms of matrial arts combat

  9. I believe that it does. For all intents and purposes (on Yahoo Answers), it is. The actual 'wrestling' section is completely dedicated to WWE and c**p.

Wildrice, your mind is on Katana so much that I'm beginning to think you've got a crush on him.
