  1. No, ammonia is all through your water.  Do some partial water changes if you think you have an ammonia problem.

  2. No ammonia does not sink to the bottom of the tank.  Ammonia is mixed in with all of the other chemicals in the tank. It is pretty much impossible, due to water circulation, for the chemicals to settle out.

If ammonia did settle, the test kits would tell you to pull water to be tested from the bottom of the aquarium.

Some fish, particularly fast swimming schoolers, prefer to stay near the top of the tank. That is where they can swim fast without having to worry about obstacles.

  3. no it does not

    don't be so silly!

there are multiple reasons why your fish stay at the top

    1. the oxygen in your water is low -

you can buy an air pump in your local pet/fish store

    aire stones are available also

    2. mabye you havent done your research and your fish just like it at the top

    3. if you have a territorial fish at the bottom then that is why, it will chase the other fish and there only safe distance is at the top.

    hope this helps!!

  4. You can't see ammonia its a toxin in the water. So no it can't sink. I would perform a water test to see if you have a ammonia.

Ammonia is also produced by fishes because of their pee and p**p in the water.
