  2. No, you only need a visa if you are going to work there. Now, every American needs a passport to enter another country.

  3. A Visa is not required, only a valid US passport.  BUT there is a $131 reciprocity fee (that's what it was for us on April 12th this year)  that will be collected at the Santiago airport before you are allowed entry.  Apparently the US charges Chileans $100 to enter the US, so the term 'reciprocity'.  Why $131? Due to the decline in the value of the US Dollar vs the Chilean Peso.  Four years ago you could get 610 Pesos to the Dollar, now it's around 450.

Paying the fee once will get you into Chile with no further charges for the remaining life of your passport.

  4. See site below to see that you do need a visa to enter Chile, but you may obtain it upon arrival. Read section under "Entry Requirements."

  5. You need a passport. Go to your local post office and pick up an application. Processing can take anywhere from 3-8 weeks unless you pay more money for expedited service.
