  1. I Wonder why you would care to travel to North Korea anyway? It's not on my list of prime vacation spots.

  2. Absolutely YES. North Korea is not an open country. In fact, it is only in Singapore I have seen its Embassy.

You need not just a visa, but valid documents, you cannot tour around there. It is a closed country.

  3. better think thrice ... It will be very hard to get in.. true

your thought should be to getting out.

  4. Everyone is right- You can't get there legally. Go to the State Department and ask.

Worse, there is no government to help you if you get into trouble there.  If you went to Europe, there is a slight chance you'd get into some kind of legal hot water. The Embassy will help you. But not in North Korea. Don't go there, no matter how good an idea it seems to you.  Just not worth the risk.

  5. you would be lucky if you received a visa, North Korea is not up for tourists, some few tours have received visas, but it is rarely done,

Main article: Foreign relations of North Korea

Kim Jong-il (left) , with his father Kim Il-sung around 1986Since the ceasefire of the Korean War in 1953, the relations between the North Korean government and South Korea, the United States, and Japan have remained tense. Fighting was halted in the ceasefire but both Koreas are still technically at war. On October 4, 2007 the leaders of North and South Korea pledged to hold summit talks to officially declare the war over and reaffirmed the principle of mutual non-aggression

  6. If memory serves me right U.S. citizens still cannot travel to

Cuba and North Korea legally, meaning you need special permission from the State Department to do so.  Somewhere in your U.S. passport is a list of countries you/we are not allowed to travel too.

  7. You can't even ask. They have allowed about a dozen American in their borders for the last 20 years, with heavy restrictions on where they can go.

South Koreans can't even get in. Absolutely closed.

  8. North Korea hardly lets "anyone" in.  It is a closed country.  You would have to petition N. Korea..........but don't count on anything.
