Does an EMP have the same devastating effect on longitudinal electric devices as it does on standard devices.

Well I understand what is you doubt, since eletromagnetic waves are transversal, right?

I'm reading about those, and it seems to me that they are just a piece in a larger circuit, for they need voltage control and etc; as such, they would still be desabilitated by an EMP.
