Does an aftermarket off-road bumper affect a vehicle's safety?

I just replaced the front bumper on my truck with a Ranch Hand aftermarket bumper. Is there any data on whether these types of truck bumpers affect safety?

  1. Yes it will do more damage to both your vehicle as well as the other persons vehicle as well, it will also effect the impact ratings for the correct operation of the the airbag sensors.

    The factory bumper compared to the ranch hand bumper will not collapse as recommended by the factory..........................

    Also the heavier bumper could do more damage to the frame of you vehicle by not collapsing......................
