  1. depends on what kind of airplane are you refering to.. for example there are these small airplanes like the cessna which has 1 big landing gear on each wing and one small at the back... there are the bigger airplanes which has a main landing gear on the middle back of the aircraft which sustain almost all the airplane weight and 1 landing gear on the nose which was made for turning on the runway and for sustain the nose so the plane won't chrash when landing...

  2. That is called "tricycle" landing gear, and it is the most common arrangement.

The second most common arrangement predominated until the 1950s.  This is called "conventional" or "tailwheel" landing gear, in which there are main wheels on either side under the forward fuselage, and a small swivel wheel under the tail.  Airplanes equipped with this system are sometimes called "taildraggers."

Most pilots consider tricycle gear to be easier to land and to handle on the ground than tailwheel types.

There are some variants.  The B-47 and B-52 bombers famously are (/were) equipped with "centerline" or "bicycle" landing gear, the purpose of which is to remove heavy structural loads from the wings.  Also, very heavy aircraft such as the Antonov AN-225 have clusters of main wheels in closely set rows under the middle fuselage, as well as outrigger gear to support the wingtips.

For much more information including pictures and diagrams, try an internet search on "aircraft landing gear."

  3. Modern aircraft have what is known as a tricycle landing gear as a minium. This means that it has one nose gear located directly below, or below and just aft of, the flight deck and two main landing gears usually located under each wing just outboard of where it joins onto the fuselage. Really large, heavy civil transport aircraft (B777, A340, A380) also have an additional centreline landing gear located between the main gears on the centreline of the fuselage.

  4. Some modern propeller-driven planes such as the Extra 300 are called "taildraggers."  These don't have a nose landing gear.  Two wheels in the front, and one small wheel under the tail.

Most planes today do use the tricycle landing gear as stated above though.

  5. For the most part, yes, and Carlos needs to quit eating fried banana peel...

  6. Ofcourse They Got Landing Gears
