  1. Im wonderinng why the insurance company wants the phone records.  There is more to this story than just this questions.

As an adjuster, yes, we can ask for phone records.  This will aid in fraud cases involving thefts/fires/vandalism claims.  Also for serious accidents where serious injures incurred and they are claiming you were on a phone or something.  You are contractually liable to cooperate with your insurance company.  Read your policy toward the back Duties After An Accident or Loss.

Your claim can be denied for this.  If you have nothing to hide why the reluctance to hand over  your phone records????

  2. Probably.  You can thank the PATRIOT ACT for that one, if so.

Hey, this notice came up about all caps and shouting.  Just to be clear, it's supposed to be all caps, as it is an acronym.

  3. I am not sure I understand what you mean.  When your go to obtain car insurance coverage, the application that your agent completes will ask for your phone number.  This is standard on any application.  They don't have the right, however, to give out your phone number to any third party.

  5. Why would they need a copy of your phone records?  They can't invade your phone records without a court order.  You would've had to committed a crime and then these records could be used to prove a case against you.
