  1. Anyone who is promotable, should be treated as if they were already that new rank....it doesn't matter how much TIG they do or do not have.

  2. i honestly don't know what reg covers it, but my husband said in his units he has been too ( army ) time in grade outranks the promotable status.

  3. Yes.  Whomever has more time in that paygrade is senior to the junior person or the promotable in this case.

  4. Which branch of the military?  In the AF "outranking" is based on TIG, not promotability.  Anyone is promotable once they have enough TIG.  It's just up to the person to take the tests, have the scores needed,  and be promoted!  And you don't assume the status of the next rank until you actually pin it on.

  5. Sorry can't provide the reg but for army its by the effective date of rank so whoever made there e-4 first out ranks the other. Which is the whole TIG Time In Grade so yea.

  6. An e-4 with more time in grade out ranks a E-4 promotable until that E-4 becomes and E-5 or a corporal.

  7. more respect i think and experience same issue came up at my command it was up to PO1 he chose experience because he was the boss but how ever e-4 is e-4 to our uncleSAMs eyes
