I think the reason why Honda didn't put a kick start on the CRF230 is mainly due to reduced weight.  

it's sort of a pig even without the 10-15 lb kicker mechanism.

I have owned two dirt bikes. One had both and the other had just kick. I had a CB 450 honda that had both. I really like a kicker. Looks cool to see someone kick a bike off.

i thank that it is when it is cold you dont have to keep on kicking it

Some do some don't. A CRF250X does have one and a CRF230F does not. Just depends on the model. All race bikes with e-start also have a kick start.
