or can it be like this?: http://www.jewelrycentral.com/product.asp?pID=3278&cID=7

(i have like the second one (though a bit more subtle), but one of my friends said this isnt a "real" engagement ring and that real ones only have one stone like the first pic) is she right? would people think this is an engagment ring?

  1. an engagement ring can look like whatever the newly afianced want it to.  personally, i prefer the more subtle multi-stoned ring.

  2. my ring looks like the 2nd one.  The diamonds represents your past, present and future with your fiancee. That's why it is so special to me.

  3. NO she is not right. Maybe in the old days but I have had 2 engagement rings and both were 3 stones. I loved mine. People who say stupid things like that have a bit of jealously to them so don't worry about her.

    Good luck and God bless,..

  4. I have a 3 stone engagement ring.  It isn't three diamonds, because I don't personally like the look of those.

Mine has a round centre diamond that is .6 carats and then a round pink sapphire on either side of it that are .3 carats each.

It is a trellis setting instead of the more traditional "claw" type setting, I think that adds a little something extra to the side view of it.

I LOVE my engagement ring.  My fiance designed it and had it made for me, I had no idea about anything, and when he opened the box after I said yes, I was shocked!  I couldn't have designed a more perfect ring for myself!

  5. Your friend is wrong.  Whatever you like is what is an engagement ring.  The second one is not more subtle. Just look at that price tag!  If I hadn't found the setting that I really preferred (antique), I would have had something more like this one:

  6. Your "friend" sounds kind of catty but....your ring is a real engagement ring.  I have seen some crazy engagement rings and the three-stone one is lovely and prett popular as well.  Enjoy it!

  7. You might find what you are looking for here: http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rin... or here: http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rin...

  8. The first ring you show is a solitaire, and the second is a three-stone ring.  An engagement ring can have many many stones or it can not even have a diamond - but any other precious or semiprecious stone.  Your friends don't sound like very good friends if they're making you unsure about getting an engagement ring that YOU like, and they don't seem to know what they're talking about.

  9. It can be anything you want it to be. I have a friend with a gigantic ruby as an engagement ring. Your friend has too much time on her hand to be making the comment to you.

  10. it can have 3 diamonds. mine has 3 diamonds too. that's very popular nowadays.

  11. An engagement ring can be pretty much anything. The first one you show is a solitaire, which some women prefer.

I didn't like the look of a solitaire on my finger, so my husband chose a solitaire with smaller shoulder stones - and the wedding band has three of the smaller stones, so they look great together.

I don't like the look of the ring in your second link - I think it looks prettier when the centre stone stands out.

  12. It can be whatever you want it to be as long as YOUR happy! Your going to be the one wearing it for the rest of your life.....It could be a gemstone like a pink sapphire or an emerald if you would like! I'm sure you have a beautiful ring I also have a 3 stone and adore it!!!!  Best wishes!!!

  13. I think most people associate the solitaire as an engagement ring and  the three stone ring as an anniversary ring as past present future....however I think that even while your engaged you have a past, present and future so if you want a three stone go for it!

  14. The number of stones and placements have a meaning...the second one that you have there is the "past, present, future" set.

I have also seen engament rings that are not diamonds, they are other precious gems instead, just because it fits the personality more...

Remember, YOU and only YOU have to like it - your the one who is wearing it for the rest of your life :)

  15. Hi and congratulations!  Ummm.....your friend is wrong!  The ring you have is very, very similar to the one that my son picked for his (now) wife for an engagement ring!  I think it is absolutely beautiful!  An engagement ring can be anything that you want it to be.  It can be 1, 2, 3 or more! diamonds, or it can be another stone (i.e., emerald, sapphire, ruby).  It's whatever you want, your fiance can afford, and what you like!

It's a beautiful ring, so DON'T listen to your friend.  Possibly she could be jealous?  Hmmmm......

  16. Who cares what she thinks?  Plenty of people have 3 stone engagement rings.  If it means something to you and your fiance, that's all that matters.  Your friend sounds like a moron.
