Does an epidural injection hurt ? ?

ive heard its a big needle but can you feel it when they stick it in ?

i think that it hurt more then my tattoo on my back, but i've been told that it can hurt a lot more after it's done.. i guess that it just depends on what you think of pain! they had to try two times with me, and then the meds didn't really work the first time.  but i'm glade that i did get one my baby was over 8lbs!

i my experience it did not hurt at all i did not feel the needle go in . they spray you with numbing medicine before going in . it did not hurt at all. probably going with an epidural again for this pregnancy

I would compare it to the pressure you would feel if someone was sticking their finger into your back when you were a kid.  Pressure but not exactly pain and it doesn't last very long.  I've had four kids and I get nervous about getting the epidural every time but compared to the contractions I'm more than willing to do it.

i havent had one but i hear its just alot of pressure for a min or so and incomparison to the contractions it dosent hurt

Not so much.  You'll be having strong contractions at the time, which will really be taking your attention away from the epidural.

to me it didn't they numb the place they inject it into.  i would not worry about it.  it isn't going to hurt and i had to have them inject it 3 times.  to me out of the whole labor and delivery (i had a c section also and was induced) the thing that hurt me the most was the iv and that was still tolerable. i hate ivs

I didn't think it was that bad.  It felt very odd and yes, it does hurt some.  I can't say it hurt anymore than getting an iv inserted.

Not really.. u just feel a werid sensation. They numb the area before they stick u wit the needle. Trust me tho, the epidural will be the last of ur worries. It'll be fine 'n won't hurt a bit!
