Does an equity trader closes a position just before he/she makes another position based on technical analysis?

Some do - they are typically known as 'chartists' (another name might be 'gamblers using a system' or 'people with more money that sense' (needless to say, a few months of using a 'system' typically reduces their money to their IQ level  :-) )

FYI .. IF it was possible to 'predict' equity movements, THEN it is possible to use computers to make such predictions .. the first company (or person) to develop such software would soon own the entire world ..
