  1. call summit racing and get a high flow cat for your car, it will be a lot cheaper and will pass emissions plus you will gain a little sound and power as it flows better, and no the cat doesn't come with an ordered exhaust system, you usually get everything from the cat back.

  2. your dad is right, it don,t come with the exhaust, all you get is the cat.

  3. Look it up or call for a quote> Most No cats>

  4. Some do and some don't. It depends on what and whom you are buying the system from.

How many miles are on this car? Cats are warrantied for 8 years / 80,000 miles.

By the way, you can get that cat replaced a LOT cheaper. I can buy that cat for about $350 through NAPA. Labor to replace it is around an hour. The dealership is s******g you (no surprise there). Find a nice independent shop you can trust and start taking your car there.

And speaking of dealerships s******g you...it is a little unusual for your cat to be bad at this point unless you failed to perform your regular scheduled maintenance (plugs, wires, etc.). How do you know it's bad? Are you taking their word for it? I wouldn't. It was diagnosed by a flat-rate mechanic who was probably short on his paycheck and working for a dealership. All dealerships are hurting right now because of the economy and are looking to make up their shortfalls through their service department.

I had three people come to my shop last week after visiting their respective local dealerships. All three had completely bogus estimates for work that was completely made up. None of the things the dealerships said were bad were in fact bad. Every single on of them were incidents of the dealerships trying to steal money from hard working decent people.

  5. many times a small shop like mikes muffler will have an aftermarket converter he can install for about 200 bucks the pipes are probably stainless he will cut in and weld the converter on

  6. The guy you bought the car from is responsible for it being smog legal when he sold it to you.I'd contact him and tell him you want the cat.Cailifornia is rabid about smog on cars.

  7. All manufacturers have  extended emission warrenty on the catalytic converter.   Check with Honda before putting out your money. This is explained in your owners manual.

I just pick up your latest reply.  The previous owner broke the emission law and I don't see how he sold the car without a state inspection.  Go after him for the catalytic converter replacement.  In my state, an inspection sticker certificate has to be shown before tags ang title are issued.  You may have to bring in the county/state's Attorney Generals Office or ask a representative to direct you to the agency that can be of help.

  8. after market exhaust systems usually do not come with cats. It maybe cheaper to get an aftermarket  highflow cat. what id like to know is how you already went through a cat. On a properly running engine they last the life of the car.
