  1. As a Pakistani passport holder he needs a visa to enter the Republic of Ireland. On the other hand, if he enters overland from Northern Ireland, either by road or rail, no-one will look as there are no border controls.

  2. You will be asked for a passport when travelling to Ireland and you do need an Irish visa.

  3. you will not be asked for a passport as you travel between the UK and Ireland.  However you are required to have picture ID to travel - so make sure you are carrying proper UK based photo ID

  4. First of all do you mean Ireland or Northern Ireland? They are both different countries and therefore different requirements apply to each.

If you mean Northern Ireland, then the student will not need a new visa to visit as Northern Ireland is apart of the U.K.

If you mean Ireland, then as a citizen of Pakistan the student will be required to obtain a visa for entry into Ireland before they depart.

You can find this information in the first link below and the contact information for the Irish Embassy in the U.K. along with how to apply for the visa is the 2nd and 3rd links.
