Does an orange seed have to be dried to grow?

My grama just threw some orange seeds from an orange she ate into the dirt and now she has a little tree. I wanna do this, I have some seeds so I wanna know if I must dry them. I live in Florida so I am pretty sure its good climate lol.

  2. DON'T dry them! Citrus seed have what is called short viability. This means that the embryo only survives for a short time. Drying the seed will kill the embryo. Collect the seeds from a fresh fruit, wash them to get any pulp off them and then dry them for a few hours only between paper towels or in a coffee filter. plant them about an inch deep in moist, not wet, potting mix and keep them warm and under good light. depending on the type of citrus, germination will take anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks, so be patient.
