  1. my dad goes quite a lot, with my younger siblings (3,5,13,15) and they always have a good time! they go out exploring a lot and visiting different places so i guess it depends what kind of holiday you are looking for. a lot of kids can entertain themselves, especially if you have a few so they will probably just enjoy the change of scenery....it's a big adventure to them!

  2. We go all the time. It is the best value for money holiday you can get. If you get on well with friends and family ask them to come along and share the cost of a larger more luxurious property. I usualy rent a villa in the Var region of Provence near Cogolin or St Tropez for a week in the summer then move onto a chalet near lake Annecy in the Alps for a week on our way back. The best way to do it that i have found is to book your channel crossing then book any stopover hotels (formule1 are very cheap also Etap) then book your villa through www.ownersdirect.co.uk

It all depends on what you want from your holiday and when you want to go. In the main weeks of the summer holidays expect to pay above £1300p/w for a 4 bed villa with pool but the same villa in September or May might cost less than £700

We usualy go with children aged between 4 and 16 and they have a fantastic time. The pools have to be securely fenced off by french law so you have no worries there and our kids love to holiday with their Aunts, uncles and cousins. Dinner time is great, we shop in the local supermarket and eat on a table by the pool..........very french. Loads of wine, beer and chat, it really is that good. If you would like any more help or advice please contact me by e-mail and i will pass on any info you need.

  3. I do, but there's probably not a lot for the kids to do.

Maybe check out Eurocamp or Keycamp holidays, which are in mobile homes and chalets, and have kids clubs and swimming pools, restaurants etc.

  4. Great if you go in summer, near a beach and take all their favoutite food with you.

  5. I have stayed in cottages in France over the last 20 years in Normandy, Brittany and Provence.  These cottages are called "gites" and you can go to the website which covers all of France, choose the area you want to visit and the amenities, as well as your budget.  I highly recommend it.

Each "gite" will tell you what they provide and what you have to bring.  Mostly, sheets and towels are only provided for a small fee or you can bring your own.  They will also indicate whether it is a family gite and if you can bring a pet.

I've always found the owners very friendly and some speak English because so many UK citizens holiday in the French Countryside.
