Does any Bernard Hopkins Haters think that Lennox Lewis was a GREAT fighter?

Lennox Lewis was a 6'5, 250lb fighter with a 84 inch reach advantage. He outsized every fighter he fought. Most Heavyweights are 6'0 to 6'3 & 215 to 230 lbs. That means he had a 2 to 5 inch height advantage & a 20 to 35 lb weight advantage on most of the fighters he fought. When he fought someone his size (Vitali Klitschko) he looked horrible. If it wasn't for that cut Vitali would of easily beat Lewis.

Anyways, don't get me wrong because I like Lennox Lewis. I think it's dumb to discredit a guy who is able to beat great fighters who's able to move up in weight divisons. I just don't get that how could someone praise Lennox for what he's done but then hate on Hopkins for what he done. Tyson, Holyfied, & Tua are alot smaller to Lennox then Oscar & Tito was to B-Hop. To say B-Hop only fought smaller fighters is laughable. He clearly beaten Antonio Tarver who is alot larger then B-Hop. Tito also had KO's at Middleweight (Joppy, Mayorga, & Cherifi) and held the WBA Middleweight Belt.

  1. Hopkins is a dumb, ugly racist thug.Kelly Pavlik would knock Hopkins into oblivion! (so will Calzaghe)

  2. Bernard Hopkins is the Man and he is going to win Saturaday.

    Theres only one Bernard Hopkins

    Calzaghe is who he's stoppin

    Walking along singing a song

By the 10th round Joe Calzaghe is gone

  3. HAHA I just met Lennox last weekend at a party in Turks and Caicos!! sorry totally unrelated but I was excited

  6. well first of all hagler beating duran and hearns is not the same for one thomas hearns would be the future light heavyweight champion and robert duran was a heavy hitter.lewis is a great champ because he beat knockout power type fighters, like mike tyson, holyiefield, tommy morrison and mccall.hopkins beat oscar and tito but he lost to roy jones jr.did he ever go back to challenge him no.everyone lewis lost to he came back and won by ko.rohman,mccall.he made mccall cry.hopkins spent 10 years as champ name one person that was a ligitament good middleweight he beat.he always ran from good fighters

  7. I love B Hop,but to call him the greatest of this era is a little too much, you hate Floyd Mayweather but you forget that from the 130 to 140 weight classes PBF has been the most dominant fighter, had he chosen to remain in the lighter divisions he would be the undisputed king without any shadow of doubt,B Hop is a great boxer but Mayweather is technically superior to almost any boxer today.

  8. Come on, you misunderstand, I'm not knocking Hopkins because he didn't KO everyone, you were throwing out numbers to try and show he was the "best", KO percentage is a number too.

I think Lennox was a very good heavyweight, I think that with his physical size he could have been more dominating that he was - but he also had a shaky chin, so he probably fought the smartest way he could have against guys like Tua or Tyson who he would have been in trouble if he was too aggressive with.

But like Hopkins you can't just pick and choose when to start ranking him - Lewis was the benefactor of good circumstance, there were not many heavyweights around skillfull enough to overcome the size advantage he had - Holyfield was much smaller, but on the downside, and he still went 24 rounds with him.

I'll say it again, you have to WATCH these guys not just read stats.  You can't watch Lewis flail around clumsily, get KOd by McCall and Rahman, struggle with and older Mercer, get rocked by Briggs and tell me that he was that great.  Same with Hopkins, you can't point to how he's been able to maintain his abilities so long pointing to Wright and Tarver and ignore how average he looked against Taylor - you can't ignore how ordinary he looked for the majority of his career against very limited opposition.  He was a great champ, and so was Lennox, because they both were focused enough to stay on top for a long time; BUT you can't watch them and tell me honestly they were on the level of the truly dominant and great fighters in history.
