  1. You could make a workable Tesla coil on that budget. This is a favorite of the alterna-hacker set.

  2. check out this site. It will be helpful to you

  3. Well, it would be better to have your answer more specific on what kind of project and for what.

For $150 you can make an awesome creation, it is even too much.Add in your details further and mail me if you like and I will reply with some good ideas with step-by-step instructional guides.

  4. When I was a kid we built a Tesla Coil.  It was pretty cool.  Especially at night.  Fairly safe.

These days solar is the up and coming realm of interest.

For pure destructive experiments fresnel lenses are up there.

They may be bought outright or obtained from an old microfiche viewer or rear projection big screen TV.  (Please make sure the TV was dead before you take it.  You will be having plenty of reasons to get into trouble.  No reason having your parents remember it every time they go to watch TV -lol)

A fresnel lens of proper size can and will melt asphalt, burn flesh, and become so bright that it will permanently blind you for life.  Even cameras can be damaged by looking at the light it focuses.  Be careful.  Very very careful.

Constructive uses could be a solar condenser for cooking, heating or powering a thermal engine to produce electricity.
