  1. Unfortunately, most doctors and psychiatrists refuse to recognize food allergies and yet so many patients that have it, are diagnosed as having "mental" problems.

    You can simply fix the problem. Find someone (ring around) - a doctor who does allergy testing and have yourself tested. They will surely find foods and additives that you are allergic to. Eliminate those and watch the difference.

    (Also go off all sugar (read all the labels, even soup and frozen fish have sugar). Also eliminate  all products made with white flour. Get used to wholemeal bread (NOT wholegrain).

    If they find nothing, it could even be an environment allergy (perfume, soaps, formaldehyde etc, etc)

    You could also have a Nutrient or Vitamin deficiency. It could be Vitamin B12 deficiency.

    The symptoms of this are;

    Difficulty in concentration and remembering, stuporous depression, severe agitation, hallucinations, manic or paranoid behaviour.

    Buy the book "Not all in the mind" by Dr. Mackarness (I hope that is correct, I don't have it anymore). You will be amazed at the "mental" problems people have from food allergies.

    Look supplments for depression up on the internet. It may be hit and miss, as st johns wort may not work for you - but something else will. Also positive think and exercise always help

  3. yes....

  4. take B complex, it might help.

  5. It is important to differentiate between actual clinically diagnosed depression and mere sadness or low mood.

    Have you received a diagnosis of depression from a physician? Or after clinical evaluation by a Psychiatrist?

    Many people refer to their low mood as depression. Or feelings of lethargy and ambivalence they often term depression.

    It could be dietary. It could be a B vitamin group need. It could be caused by a form of anemia, even Coeliac's disease. It can even be a result of pressure, or unmet needs.

    As a short term measure, (that can be used in conjunction with other forms of cognitive-behavioral therapeutic measures), magnesium supplements, GABA; tyrosine and phenylalanine ("essential amino acids") have been prescribed as natural supplements that can help to alleviate low mood- but give these things time to work.

    Note: Take GABA (Gamma-amino-butyric-Acid) with a carbohydrate snack (eg., with at least part of a jelly donut, even) and at least 45 minutes before any substantial amount of protein (main meals).

    Hope it helps. Another Book to check out is the Anxiety and Stress Workbook by Bourne.
