Does anybody know if you can work in a play group for kids 0-5 years old if you dont go to college?

can you work there without going to college?

i was going to go college next year but i changed my mind i just wanna go and work at a play group.. do you have to go to college for that job? or will they just train you themselves?

i'll be 16 !

  1. I think you would need some sort of child care qualification, or perhaps if it was just a play group you could do the job and go to college one day a week for the qualification.


  2. I am writing from England, so unfortunately only able to base my answer on this. In England we currently offer an Apprenticeship in childcare. This means that you are able to work in a nursery 4 days a week, attend college one day a week and be paid £80 a week for it.

    These courses are offered by most colleges offering Higher Education, so hopefully you will be able to find one (if indeed you are from the UK)

  3. Most places require you to either be qualified or be prepared to gain qualifications. You could work 4 days a week then go to college one day a week to gain your NVQ in childcare. If you're serious about working with children then you should seriously consider gaining the qualification.

    Apart from the training you'll receive you will have a qualification that shows prospective employers you are dedicated to your job & open to training. You will also be on better money, not much better but still better.
