I found a bug crawling on me yesterday, and i have no idea what it is. I've put it in a tub with some air holes and grass, but i still haven't been able to find out what it is.

It's about 1cm long, and is yellow with black spots. It has 6 legs that are near the front, and then a sort of long tail.

It doesn't have wings.

  1. take a picture

  2. It might be a goldenrod beetle. They are sort of pill shaped and actually do have wings, but they fold them under a protective shell on their back. Goldenrod beetles are attracted to goldenrod flowers and feed on the pollen and nectar.

  3. I agree, sounds like a ladybird beetle larva.  See the pic.

If it is, take it out and put it on any of your outside plants that may still have aphids.  They (just like the adult ladybird beetles) gobble them down like popcorn.

  4. Although it technically says caterpillar here, if you look closely at the short vid it does have 6 front legs too.
