Does any know what the roshingumi is?

need to figure out if this was an actual japanese clan or group and what the meaning is from the name.

I did a google search and found this, it isn't a lot I'm afraid but it may give you an idea as to what it may be.

Bio: Karai grew up with Souji Okita, they were best friends until he joined the Roshingumi.(Shinsengumi) 10 years after the clan that Souji and Karai belonged to was attacked by the choshu. Karai was the only one who was able to escape. So she set off on a to find the Shisengumi and Souji, hoping that she will be able to fight beside him and avenge her clan.
