  1. I think that it all is.

  2. well I know that the meat and eggs at McDonald's isn't ethical. I send them an email asking if they use free-range meat and eggs that aren't from caged eggs (I wouldn't eat them, but I was interested). They sent me an email back saying that free-range produce is too expensive.

I agree with the first comment, I wouldn't call any meat "ethical"

  3. Ethics are subjective, so you tell me?

  4. Why are you asking a meaty question of Veggies and Vegans?

That's like asking a Christian about the devil?

    Sheesh!

    .

  5. If you mean free range or well treated animals, then probably not. Unless people are willing to pay premium  for fast food, the most convenient method, factory farming, will probably remain as the source of meat in fast food places.

If you want "fast food" type foods such as burgers sandwiches, there are high end restaurants that serve them but again, you have to pay a premium.( byMark in Toronto serves a $37 hamburger:  8 oz. USDA Prime Beef With Brie de Meaux, Crisp Pancetta,Grilled Porcini, Shaved Truffles & Crisp Onion Rings ) And there are no gurantees that the animals were treated any better than fast food meat.

  6. Fast food joints (like most of the capitalist world) have one main concern, that is - profit. So called 'ethical' meat is expensive to produce and short in supply, so therefor, we can safely assume that likely NO fast food restaurant uses it.

If you are concerned with the treatment of the beings you consume and/or environmental effects of their production/consumption consider these points:

MEAT production always requires more land and much more water to sustain than vegetable and grain production, even if it's organic and bio-dynamic.

MILK (and therefor dairy products) can only be harvested from lactating animals. In order to lactate an animal needs to become pregnant and give birth (as often as if it's going to be worth anything to the industry). All male babies are killed before reaching adulthood (becoming veal) because they cannot produce milk.

EGGS can be produced without inducing pregnancy. However, ALL egg producing chickens (whether they be caged, free-range or organic) come to the farms from the same source - breeding factories. In these factories breeding chickens are kept (under what conditions?) for the purposes of producing more chickens. All male chicks are not further required, so are gassed to death, and all female chicks are packed into crates and sent off to be egg producers.

Advice - don't be half *** about this if you care enough not to be, because it doesn't work.

Consider investing in a chicken pen if your backyard is medium - large and if your council allows it.

  7. I don't know if any source of meat can be considered strictly "ethical"

  8. The only meat that could be considered from an "ethical" source would be that of a wild animal that is from an overpopulated area and was killed with a clean shot.

All fast food restaurants sell nothing but meat that is from the furthest from ethical sources.
