  1. Actually, most camcorders transfer that information within the signal, in the "hidden" parts of the data stream.  For example, some programs will be able to read that part of the signal, and you can superimpose it onto your video if you want.  Many programs will allow you to see this data; I've used Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8, and can do that.  Surprisingly, Avid Xpress Pro 5.8 doesn't do that.

    Many camcorders will give you the option as to whether or not you want the date/time visually superimposed on your video when you output the video.

    But the answer to your question is yes, you should be able to visually superimpose that data onto your video with most camcorders on the market.
