  1. Many people here will tell you that have it and those who have it will say it's good. But the fact is, it's just another account that gives you only about 4% a year.

Wait a minute, how much is sales tax? How much is tipping? How much has gas gone up since last year? How much has cost of living from rent to food?

All these things are over 10%. So how does one settle for only 4% a year? You're better off spending some time shopping for better deals, or simply deciding what NOT to buy.

From my personal experience, easily save at least $50-100 a month compared to anybody I know. (Just by being cheap). That means I've saved $600-1200 a year. That means, just to "earn" this $600, I need at least $15,000 in an ING savings account (which you probably don't have).

So, why let them hold your money for that little of a payback? Save and bank on yourself!

  2. I've had an ING savings account for about 5 years and it is wonderful.  I like the fact that transfers between my savings account and a checking account it is linked to is easy and happens right on time.  Right now it is paying more interest than my bank would anyway.

  3. I've been with ING for 7 years.  It's very easy to transfer money and with the checking account I can get the money out quickly if I need it.  Plus they pay 12x the interest of my regular bank (3% vs 1/4%).

  4. ING is a good, solid institution to hold your cash, especially cash that you may need for emergency purposes.  You can get the cash within a few business days into your linked account.

It has worked well for me, I have a no-interest checking account, and my "emergency" money goes into the ING account to earn some interest..

  5. Love it!  Its easy to understand, quickly links to your bank account to either put in or take out funds.  It pays higher interest than any bank.

Another good one is TD Ameritrade.  TD Ameritrade is harder to understand as regular savings accounts are also linked to the stock market and who can completely understand that these days???  I just keep my money in a regular savings account and don't worry about stocks or anything complicated.
