  1. Yes.  Research NAIS.

  2. la verdad no

  3. I'm concerned about the USDA Certified Organic program. I think the requirements of the program are compromised, leaving loopholes for farming practices that are no different than conventional agriculture. Unfortunately, without USDA certification, it is illegal to label your products "organic"

We often perceive organic farming to be better for the environment or more humane for livestock, but this is not always the case. For example, certified organic steers can be fattened in a feedlot just like their conventionally-farmed counterparts. As long as the feed is organic and the farm is USDA-certified, the beef produced is "organic".

The organic certification process is pretty tough, don't get me wrong. But I think it leaves too much room for error. If I buy organic meat, I want something that's completely chemical free and humanely produced. I don't want a steak from a feedlot steer. If I buy organic cheese curls, I don't want artificial additives or even natural additives produced using conventional methods.

I think the USDA does a lot of good, but yeah, I'm concerned about the USDA Certified Organic program. I think it needs an overhaul. In my opinion, the USDA has compromised on organic standards.

  4. I wonder if their animal identification plan, though can be useful is prying on the farms too much, and leaving them out money.

As of last year they were trying to force the identification of all livestock, most cost to the farmers, and the plan wasn't even totally figured out yet.
